Atlético Madrid defender Miranda hailed his sides La Liga triumph as the best way to win a league championship after the club’s draw at the Nou Camp on Saturday secured a sensational title victory.
A win for Barcelona would have handed them the title but Los Rojiblancos showed their typical fighting spirit to draw 1-1 and the Brazilian defender was jubilant afterwards.
Miranda was quoted by Inside Spanish Football, he said: “Now it’s time to celebrate. We and our fans had a brilliant campaign. We deserve to enjoy it.
“This is how we would’ve liked to win La Liga. It’s difficult to win a league that has Real Madrid and Barcelona, but we think we deserved it from the beginning.”
Despite being in imperious form all season, the 29-year-old won’t be playing in the World Cup this summer with Brazil.
His exclusion from Luiz Felipe Scolari’s squad has raised a few eyebrows but the defender chose to focus on the upcoming Champions League final, rather than his World Cup snub.
Miranda added: “Brazil has great players. The fans deserve that Brazil has a brilliant World Cup campaign.
“The Champions League match is one single match against Real Madrid,” the Brazilian concluded in simple terms.
