Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff has admitted that his team are under pressure to deliver at the World Cup, where they will start as one of the favourites for the tournament.

Bierhoff, 45, told soccerway.com that he was aware of Germany’s position and vowed to not let down the fans by playing their best football and putting in “a hell of a lot of work.”

As well as the actual games, Bierhoff has highlighted the Brazilian travel times that are involved in such a huge country. “The distances play a huge role. The last time I was there I travelled 24 hours to get to an accommodation.”

His side are logistically relatively lucky, however, as their matches are scheduled as close together as is realistically possible.

Germany will play games in venues as varied as Salvador, Fortaleza and Recife in Group G alongside Ghana, United States and Portugal.
