Spanish sports newspaper Sport is reporting that Santos forward Neymar will join Barcelona this summer after the Confederations Cup.
Neymar, 20, has been linked with a host of top European clubs over the past year but there have been strong rumours that Santos and Barcelona had already come to an agreement that the player would move to Spain after the World Cup in 2014.
However, Sport are reporting that a senior director at Camp Nou has confirmed to them that the transfer, which is “a complex operation, profiled for months and is slowly taking shape”, will be completed in June after the Confederations Cup finishes in Brazil.
The Catalan daily, who also revealed that a corporate sponsor have confirmed the move but did not disclose their sources, say that Barcelona are currently planning their squad for next season and see Neymar as a key addition.
Neymar has a contract with Santos until 2014 and it had recently been suggested that he was in talks with the club to extend his time in Brazil past next year’s World Cup.
