Fenerbahce are considering a move to bring their former left-back André Santos back to the club from Arsenal before the January transfer window closes this week.

Santos, 29, moved to Arsenal from the Turkish giants in August 2011 as part of a late spending spree by manager Arsene Wenger in response to the Gunners 8-2 defeat away to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

However, Santos has failed to become a regular at Arsenal due to a number of factors. The re-emergence of Kieran Gibbs after injury has seen him spend most of the time on the bench, but his own form and fitness has seen him struggle when given the opportunity.

Santos started for Arsenal in their victory over Brighton in the FA Cup on Saturday but was given a torrid time by the Championship side’s winger Will Buckley during the first half and was eventually replaced by Gibbs after 79 minutes.

Fenerbahce are also looking at Swiss full back Reto Ziegler, who spent last season the Turkish club from Juventus, and is currently on loan with Lokomotiv Moscow.
