Barcelona vice-president Javier Faus believes signing Santos star Neymar would be the “perfect marketing strategy".

The Seleção international has been heavily linked with a move to the Catalan giants, with some reports suggesting a deal is already in place.

However, the Blaugrana vice-president has refused to comment on whether any negotiations have already been held.

Faus did state that the signing of Neymar would be a good boost for the club"s long-term plans.

He said: “Signing Neymar would be a perfect marketing strategy. Barcelona always prioritise sport over economics, though.

“However, as [Andoni] Zubizarreta already said, Neymar is under contract with Santos until 2014, and we don"t have anything more to say on the matter."

Neymar seems determined to fulfil the contract with his boyhood club and remain in Brazil until after the next World Cup, despite reported interest from Europe’s biggest clubs, such as Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
