Troubled striker Adriano has spoken out on his frequent appearances in his hometown of Vila Cruzeiro after quitting Flamengo only a week ago.
The former Seleção forward announced he was leaving the club a week ago after missing a total of six training sessions on his comeback from an achilles injury.
Adriano, 30, told Fox Sports:” It’s too complicated for me, my father, when he died, said only one thing to me: ‘Adriano, be yourself’.
“And I am what I am. I’m thrilled to be near my father here. Everyone judges me because I’m in my community. Do you know why? Because here I can drink beer because I want to drink. Here I am like everyone else. I can eat a hot dog, a burger, buy a car and not be denied.”
Adriano is now considering retirement after a bright but short lived career in Italy with Inter, Parma and Roma.
