Brazil coach Mano Menezes has encouraged Ramires and Paulinho to make the defensive midfielder position their own, to give them a lasting place within the Seleção.
The pair started the game against Iraq, in which Brazil won 6-0, and will line-up alongside each other again when the Seleção face Japan on Tuesday.
Mano Menezes has made it clear that a defensive midfielder who displays good marking and helps to start attacks will be preferred in his team.
Corinthians midfielder, Paulinho, said: “At first it was hard, because we both have attacking characteristics within.
“But we talk a lot. The main thing is the marking."
The duo also played in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Sweden in August, but Ramires predominantly played on the right hand side, like he does in the Premier League.
However, this recent position change to a more defensive role does not bother the Chelsea man as he is willing to play in any position.
Ramires said: “I always try to do my best. At Chelsea I am used elsewhere, but now I"m back to attacking.
“I had the opportunity to return [to the Seleção] and I do not want to leave.
“I want to help. I want to give the maximum in any position."
Ramires and Paulinho will be looking to cement a place in Mano Menezes’ starting eleven as Rômulo, Sandro and Lucas Leiva are also able to play the role.
