He has already been training with the squad for a month and Werder Bremen considered him a January departure. But, now after Palmeiras finally secured investment, Wesley is officially a Verdão player.

The move will cost Palmeiras €6 million over three years, spread in three equal installments. It was the need to secure the first €2 million installment that had held up the transfer for so long.

Palmeiras had tried to use a scheme that would see the fans raise the funds to by the player, but fell well short of the required total. Now though, they have acquired a commercial partner who will take on a percentage of Wesley’s economic rights.

Wesley, 24, started his career in São Paulo state football with Santos, moving to Werder Bremen in 2010 before returning this year.

The midfielder has two caps for Brazil and also won a Campeonato Paulista and Copa do Brasil as part of a Santos side featuring Neymar, Robinho and André.
