The Brazilian starlet looked almost certain to be on his way out of the Morumbi this January after reports emerged that the Gunners were lining up a bid to bring the midfielder to the Emirates in the transfer window.
However, since joining up with the rest of his team-mates for pre-season, Casemiro has told Globoesporte that he"s determined to prove his worth at São Paulo after being heavily criticised for his performances in the second half of last season.
"I know I didn"t finish the year in a good way. It was not like I planned. But now it"s a new year, a new life. I went on vacation and have returned with a new mind-set. I will work hard to regain my place here at São Paulo," the player said.
"I have to redeem myself and prove my worth. My head is in a place that I want it to be so I can be the Casemiro of before. This Olympics will happen this year and it"s certainly one of my goals [to make the squad]."
Casemiro only recently signed a new contract with São Paulo which runs until 2016.
