Anderson Talisca has once again shown his importance next to Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. The Brazilian played an instrumental role in the narrow 3-2 victory against Al-Shabab, scoring a brace that allowed Luís Castro’s side to claim its sixth consecutive win in the Saudi Pro League.

The Portuguese opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 21st minute, although Yannick Carrasco equalized through another spot-kick before halftime. Talisca restored the lead for Al-Nassr early in the second half, capitalizing on an assist by fellow countryman Otávio in the 46th minute, but Carlos Carvalho leveled again after 67′. Fortunately for the visitors, the Brazilian forward had more to offer, securing the game-winning goal in the 86th minute.

With this performance, the Feira de Santana-native establishes himself as the second-highest goalscorer for Al-Nassr in the Saudi league, only behind Ronaldo. Talisca found the net on 13 occasions, while the former Real Madrid star leads the league’s scoring charts with 22 goals.

The Riyadh club remains in pursuit of rivals Al-Hilal, although the leaders don’t seem to have any intention of slowing down: with 19 wins and two draws, they remain undefeated after 21 rounds. There are seven points separating Al-Nassr from the top of the table, so Talisca and Ronaldo will need to maintain their scoring prowess to contend for the title.
