After failing to get promotion last season, Norwich City have started the 2023-24 season aiming to get back to the Premier League next year. The club also seems to be working on developing talent for the long term, as it has reportedly reached an agreement with Palmeiras for Pedro Lima.

Nosso Palestra claimed Wednesday the Canaries were in advanced negotiations to land the young midfielder on a season-long loan. Later, ESPN Brasil reported the teams already reached an agreement, though the Canaries won’t have an option to buy at the end of the campaign.

Norwich would wait to promote Pedro Lima to the first team

Lima is expected to take a plan to England on Friday, with Norwich waiting for the player to have his medicals and then put pen to paper to the loan agreement. The club’s idea, however, would be to take things slowly before the 20-year-old starts to see first-team action.

ESPN reports Norwich want Lima to take his first months in the UK to settle in and work on his physical strength to join the senior squad by the end of the campaign. Therefore, the Palmeiras product would start training with the U-21 side, who takes on Chelsea next week. Since he only has one appearances for Palmeiras’ senior team, it makes sense Norwich don’t want to rush to use Lima in the EFL Championship.
