Manchester City may have had a fantastic season in the Premier League, but their campaign will come down to the outcome of the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan. The Citizens have been trying to win this elusive trophy for a while now, and another failure would break their hearts.

Pep Guardiola’s team is widely considered as the strong favourite to lift the trophy, but in football, anything can happen. Ederson is well aware of that, which is why he’s preparing for a potential penalty shootout in Istambul.

Ederson preparing for potential penalty shootout in Champions League final

“We have been working on absolutely everything, whether that is crosses, penalties, we know we have to be prepared for any circumstance that can come during the 90 minutes or extra time and even penalties if it gets that far,” Ederson said, via the Manchester Evening News.

“We have all been working for this for a long time. The whole team have seen a lot of victories but also defeats as well. The players who have been here for five or six years who have seen these sorts of defeats, we have learnt from them so that helps us to grow as a team and this is what we all want so we are going to prepare well to go out on Saturday.”

The stakes will be higher than ever, which is why Ederson is making sure to take care of every possible aspect in the previous days. In stages like these, teams have to be prepared for everything, even for a potential shootout. On Saturday, we’ll see whether this was necessary after all.
