Everything happened towards the end of the match between Spain and Brazil in Madrid. After the agonizing 3-3 draw through Lucas Paquetá’s penalty, the television cameras focus on Vinicius, who approaches the bench and argues with Álvaro Morata, accompanied by Pablo Sarabia.

Everything seemed to indicate that it was a scuffle, in a match with a friendly nature and organized with a social message to end racism in sports. However, another subsequent video, uploaded to social media, shows that both forwards approach each other again and speak in good terms.

After the clash, details of what happened were revealed. Morata, who emerged from Real Madrid and has a past in the first team, was booed by a group of fans in the VIP boxes area of the Santiago Bernabéu for playing at Atlético de Madrid, their city’s classic rival.

“It hurts my soul that in my country they boo a player, the captain, who is a reference and an example, I feel ashamed,” asserted Spain’s coach, Luis de la Fuente, in the press conference after the match. “It has been a minority, who are the ones who sometimes insult,” he clarified.

Morata reacted vehemently to those gestures and Vinicius, the current star of Real Madrid, went to ask the forward with a past at Juventus to calm down.

Dorival Júnior: “There was no aggression of any kind”

Beyond this, Brazil’s coach, Dorival Júnior, made it clear that the situation did not escalate. “I don’t think there was any kind of aggression, it’s natural to be excited at the moment, but I consider that it has been respectful. Although there have been some more verbal moments than actions. I haven’t seen any event that has generated an atmosphere of instability between the two teams,” he told the press about the atmosphere in the Spanish capital.
