Brazilian Philippe Coutinho has started with the right foot at Al Duhail. He had his debut game this Thursday (28) and showed his importance on the field by suffering a penalty and scoring a beautiful free-kick goal. The team won the match against Al Markhiya 2-1 in the Qatar Stars League.

Coutinho, wearing the number 9 behind his back, is under loan from Aston Villa until the end of the 2023/24 season. He is now under the command of Argentine legend Hernán Crespo.

The game

Coutinho proved his worth in the first 15 minutes of the match. He received the ball in the midfield and sped through the defense, dribbling two opponents before being taken down. The referee signaled the penalty and Olunga converted. Fettouhi drawed the match for Al Markhiya ten minutes later.

In the first half overtime, Coutinho was responsible for the free-kick that gave the final score of the game. The result prompts Al Duhail to the third place of the league, three points behind leaders Al Saad.
