”Pelé (adjective): Said of someone who is exceptional, incomparable, unique because of his quality, his value or his superiority, and who cannot be compared to anything or anyone, just like Pelé®, the nickname of Edson Arantes do Nascimento (1940-2022), considered the greatest athlete of all time. Examples: He is the Pelé of basketball, she is the Pelé of tennis, she is the Pelé of Brazilian drama, he is the Pelé of medicine.”

This is what we can now find in the dictionary of the Portuguese language.

The King of Football, Pelé, will now be immortal in the Portuguese language dictionary, thanks to an initiative launched by SporTV in collaboration with the Pelé Foundation. His name has already been added to the digital edition of Michaelis, a notable dictionary in Brazil, and will also be present in future printed versions. The definition associated with Pelé will therefore now be accessible to all readers.
