The home side managed to get on the score sheet with a controversial penalty awarded and scored by Rodriguinho. The spot kick was awarded late into the game even after being reviewed by VAR.

The only dangerous play that warranted to a goal came in the first half in favour of Bahia which was cancelled after the review from VAR.

Replays indicated that Nino Paraíba committed a foul in the build-up of the game and that decision as a big relief to the Botafogo goalkeeper.

The second half was similar to the first half without great opportunities and chances created. The two teams played a monotonous game. Late in the second period, the outcome of the game changed when a review was requested for the foul made by Marcelo Benevenuto in the penalty area. Jefferson Ferreira de Moraes was called by Wagner Reway to review and a penalty was award to the home side. Rodriguinho took the spot kick and helped his side with the three points. Not the best of games but Bahia will happily take the three points.

Bahia returns to the field this Wednesday in a postponed game of the 18th round. Tricolor will face Fortaleza in Pituaçu. Botafogo receives Bragantino on Monday at Nilton Santos for the 21st round of the Brasileirão.

With the result, Bahia moved up one place on the log and now occupies 14th place with 22 points. Botafogo is at the edge of relegation zone with 20 points; the same number as Coritiba and Bragantino but sit at the last four positions with lesser amount of wins in the competition.
