During a recent match between Benfica and Casa Pia in the Portuguese Championship, the Brazilian footballer David Neres sustained a serious injury to the internal meniscus of his left knee. This unfortunate incident occurred when he was on the receiving end of a robust tackle during the 37th minute of the first half, leading to his substitution in the 18th minute of the second half.

Benfica released an official statement on a Sunday, confirming the extent of David Neres’ injury. While the club did not provide specific details regarding the need for surgery, it was announced that he would not be able to participate in any matches throughout 2023.

It’s worth noting that David Neres had recently been called up to represent the Brazilian national team, replacing Raphinha. However, he was only able to play for approximately 20 minutes during Brazil’s match against Uruguay.
