The four-and-a-half-year prison sentence for Dani Alves for rape led FC Barcelona to remove his name from the list of club legends. The Brazilian is no longer included in the list of 102 footballers who made history in the institution, which includes recent additions such as Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué, and Lionel Messi.

Maintaining the presumption of innocence, the club made this decision once the court’s decision was known, as reported by the Catalan media outlet Sport. The ruling was issued last February 22, although the former Barcelona full-back has been in prison since January 2023 after his request for release was denied on the grounds of flight risk.
