Midfielder Douglas Luiz has been defending Aston Villa for five years. Since 2019 at the English club, the 25-year-old player said on Thursday (21) that he is ready to face England at Wembley. The friendly match on Saturday (23) will mark Dorival Júnior’s debut in charge of the Brazilian National Team. He was hired in January to start a new cycle.

“I always try to do my best on the field, and that reflects in a call-up. I stay calm. The national team is filled with very good midfielders, always maintaining a very high quality. I tried to keep my head in place, told myself that my moment would come, and prepared myself to the fullest. Now it has arrived. If I don’t start a match, I hope to come on in the second half and be able to make a difference, change the course of a game,” said Douglas Luiz.

On Thursday, the national team held the final training session at Arsenal’s training center. On Friday (22), the Brazilian delegation will have a recognition training session at Wembley, the venue for Saturday’s friendly.

“Dorival is someone who really likes this positional game. He really likes to have all 11 players defending and attacking by marking. I will have a bit more of an idea about this today,” he said.

“We know the difficulty of the game, we are trying to understand Dorival’s work as quickly as possible. These are different moments, we are in a rebuilding phase while the England team already has a more formed group, but we will give our best to win this match,” he added.
