Coach Dorival Júnior was very pleased with Brazil’s performance against Spain and mentioned that the fatigue from the previous game, the 1-0 victory against England on Saturday in London, weighed on the team’s performance in the draw (3-3) on Tuesday (26) in Madrid. However, he highlighted that the players’ “commitment and determination” were crucial for the comeback and the equalizing goal in the last minute at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Analyzing Brazil’s two games on this European tour, Dorival stated that there are reasons for fans to be optimistic and confident about what the national team will produce going forward.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect such a positive response from the group in training and matches. An excellent professional attitude, everyone respecting each other. Everyone understood and realized that the opportunity was excellent. We will now have a new period of evaluations and observations,” he declared.

He emphasized that the Brazilian national team displayed “a warrior spirit and a lot of courage” in this match against Spain specifically.

Regarding the changes in the team, four of them at halftime, the coach explained that this was motivated by the fatigue of some players who ran a lot against England.

“We came from a very intense match. At the same time, with few days of recovery, in addition to a trip we made yesterday (Monday),” he said, justifying the substitutions.

“So, the aftermath of all this is very positive, a group that came together a few days ago, assimilated an idea, understood everything we wanted in the first match. Today, we had in the second half a glimpse of what we could have possibly done already in the initial stage, and shortly after, we conceded the third goal,” Dorival commented.

The next games for the national team will be in June: friendly matches against Mexico and the United States on June 8th and 12th, respectively, both in the USA.
