According to information released by Samuel Venâncio’s channel, Cruzeiro is close to finalizing an important agreement with Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia, aiming to acquire the economic rights of Matheus Pereira, currently on loan to the club until the end of June.

The SAF board is in negotiations with the player’s staff to finalize the contract details. The number 10 has already expressed the desire to stay with the team.

Negotiations with Al Hilal

Matheus Pereira’s loan includes a purchase option until the end of the contract, but Cruzeiro initiated discussions with Al Hilal earlier this year, understanding the complexity of the negotiation and seeking terms that fit the club’s budget.

According to ge.com, the values of the negotiation have not been disclosed yet, but the Saudis have agreed to lower their initial asking price, which was set at 12 million euros (about R$ 66 million at the current exchange rate).

The agreement includes a portion of the amount to be paid upfront at the time of signing, with the rest to be paid in installments over the coming years. Pedro Lourenço, an investor in SAF Cruzeiro, is willing to assist the club with the initial amount.

In March, Ronaldo Fenômeno and Gabriel Lima, CEO of SAF, visited Al Hilal’s facilities and met with the club’s owner, where the situation of Matheus Pereira was the main topic of discussion.

Matheus Pereira at Cruzeiro

Matheus Pereira arrived at Cruzeiro in the middle of last year as the main signing for the return to Serie A. Despite an injury in his first start, he contributed to the team’s stay in the top flight and securing a spot in the Copa Sudamericana.

In the current season, Matheus Pereira has been a standout for the team, with seven assists and two goals in 16 matches, being the primary assist provider in the squad.
