Brazil makes official its intention to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup

In 2024, the venue for the next edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup will be decided. The most important tournament in women’s football already has several possible venues that have presented their candidacies before the deadline agreed by FIFA, which is December 8 of this year.

After several rumors and some doubts, the Brazilian Government has finally confirmed that on November 4, a formal letter was presented to FIFA with which the South American country’s intention to host the growing tournament has been made official, thus joining the other three serious candidacies that are on the table.

Brazil presents guarantees to FIFA and will seek to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup

Since the middle of the year it was known that Brazil had the intention of presenting a serious candidacy to be able to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup and it was not until the current month of government that it was confirmed, through a formal letter in which there are “seven government guarantees”, that Brazil’s candidacy was already completely official.

This was announced by the official Twitter account (X) with a statement that reads as follows: “This Saturday, 11/04, the federal government delivered to the CBF and FIFA, a government declaration that makes official Brazil’s intention to host the Cup. 2027 Women’s Soccer World Cup.

“The declaration is signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the Minister of Sports, André Fufuca. This includes seven government guarantees required by FIFA for countries bidding to host the World Cup.”

Once Brazil’s intention to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup has been confirmed, the South American country must beat the other three candidates to be able to host the tournament. With a little less than a month left until the candidacy acceptance period closes, these are the confirmed ones:

  • Belgium, Netherlands and Germany
  • Brazil
  • South Africa
  • United States and Mexico

The final venue will be defined on May 17, 2024 at the FIFA Congress.
