The Premier League is widely regarded as the best football league not only in Europe, but in the entire planet. It makes sense, since it boasts historic clubs with star-studded squads, made up by the best players from different countries. Cafu, however, blames it for Brazil’s drought of World Cup titles.
The legendary right-back believes the Brazilians who play in England’s first division are too hyped by the media, when they need a real assessment to succeed at the international level.

“I am afraid, the more we have Brazilians moving to the Premier League, the fewer chances for Brazil to win the World Cup. Imagine being brainwashed by the media every week that you are the best in the world, meanwhile, you are not near the best,” said Cafu, via The Sun.
“I prefer LaLiga because they have a high mentality to reach finals and win them. In La Liga, they don’t have a mouth in front of TV cameras telling lies about Spanish players or hyping them to the world. They speak football there, not myth.”
Cafu played a pivotal role in Brazil’s last World Cup success in 2002. Right now, there are more than 30 representatives of the country in the Premier League. Alisson, Gabriel Jesus, Martinelli, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton, Casemiro, Douglas Luiz, and Lucas Paqueta are just some of them. Only time will tell whether Cafu is right about this.
