The Brazilian national team kicked off the Concacaf Gold Cup. This Thursday (22), Brazil debuted with a 1-0 victory over Puerto Rico, with a goal from Gabi Nunes. After the match, the national team’s coach, Arthur Elias, provided a detailed analysis of the game.

“We faced a team that, in my opinion, is very well-trained in terms of being consistent and playing together at all times. However, many of our players have not yet reached their peak performance because they are in preseason. Most of the Brazilian national team players represent clubs in Brazil and the United States. The tendency is for the team to grow, improve collectively, and also in their individual preparation in this competition,” he emphasized.

Arthur Elias highlighted the challenges faced by the team, considering the short training time with the full squad, which was only possible on Tuesday (20). He also commented on the challenges of working with seven athletes who had never collaborated with the coach before.

“The team trained very little, with the full squad, they had only one day of training. It’s a new job with new players, a first call-up for many athletes. I know the process can be difficult at this moment, but I believe the team will continue to grow throughout the competition,” he commented.

The next challenge for the national team will also be at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, this Sunday (25). Brazil will face a familiar opponent: Colombia. Next, the match will be against Panama on Wednesday (28), for the last round of the group stage. The games will take place at 00:15 (Brasília time).

“We plan to play a great game in the next match. Our goal is to finish at the top of the group. For that, we will need to beat Colombia, respecting and understanding the opponent, but knowing that we also have many strengths that perhaps were not shown today but can be displayed in the next match,” concluded the coach.
