Manchester United have taken an option to extend Andreas Pereira’s contract by 12 months, meaning it will now expire in June 2020.

The Brazilian’s deal had been due to expire this summer, meaning he could leave the club on a Bosman free transfer.

However, by extending his deal, United have ensured they can park the issue of his future until the summer and secure a transfer fee if they do decide to sell him.

The club decided to exercise an extension option in his deal. It remains to be seen whether interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will continue to manage the team next season.

Pereira joined United in 2014 from PSV Eindhoven and he has spent loan spells at Granada and Valencia in Spain since joining.
