Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred says he is aware of speculation linking him with a move to
Manchester City and says that he is waiting for City boss Pep Guardiola’s phonecall.
Reports suggest that Guardiola sees the Brazilian as the natural heir to Fernandinho, who is 32 years
of age. Fred is flattered by the links and hopes that something comes of them.
The 25-year old told Globoesporte, “I would definitely develop with Guardiola. I have a lot of room
to grow. I have not received his call yet, I'm anxiously waiting. He'll call me soon!”
Arsenal are also said to be interested in Fred, who is bidding to become part of Brazil’s World Cup
squad in the summer. His agent is ex-Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva.
