Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp described striker Roberto Firmino as ‘one of the most underestimated players in the world’ following his star role in the Reds’ 4-2 victory over Hoffenheim at Anfield last night.

Firmino scored one and made one against his former club, helping to smooth Liverpool’s passage into the group stages of the Champions League with a 6-2 aggregate win. The Brazilian was singled out for praise by Klopp.

“What a game Roberto Firmino had today! Unbelievable. Woah. He gave the opportunity to the two quick boys on the wing, that they could have one-on-one situations that they used outstandingly well again. He’s probably the most underestimated player in world football. He is unbelievable.”

Firmino played in a false 9 position, allowing the likes of Emre Can, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to register on the scoresheet too. Firmino helped himself to a goal early in the second half.
