Barcelona have opened proceedings against Neymar Junior, with a suit of €8.5m for alleged breach of contract. The player joined Paris Saint Germain this summer for a world record £198m fee, as the French club met his release clause.
Neymar has since played two games for the Ligue 1 club, scoring 3 goals in the process. Barcelona have scrabbled to replace him, with moves for Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho yet to bear fruit.
However, the Catalan club allege that Neymar is in breach of contract now that he has left. The Brazilian was paid a loyalty bonus of around €8.5m when he signed a new contract with the club last winter, which Barca now insist is owed back to them.
