Brazilian midfielder Oscar is reportedly close to being to Chinese side Shanghai SIPG for a fee of £52 million.
British tabloid Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that Oscar is on his way to China in the January transfer window. The Chelsea midfielder is set to be bought by Shanghai SIPG for a record fee of £52 million, surpassing the £47 million paid by the same team to have Brazilian striker Hulk in the middle of the year. If the deal is confirmed, then it will be the 16th biggest transfer in history. The newspaper indicates that the transfer is already at an advanced stage, and Oscar will act under the command of Portuguese coach André Villas-Boas. In an interview with SporTV, the Chelsea player also confirmed that the transfer to China is practically done. Shanghai SIPG already have Hulk and Elkeson in their squad, besides Argentine attacking midfielder Darío Conca, formerly of Fluminense. The Chinese transfer window opens in January and will run until the end of February, weeks before the start of the national championship. At Chelsea, Oscar has so far played 203 games and has scored 38 goals, since 2012. He has won the Premier League, UEFA Europa League and the English League Cup. This season, he has played 11 matches, but just six as a starter [the last in September] in the team coached by Antonio Conte, who works in a 3-4-3  formation.
Oscar said: “It"s 90% done. It just depends on some bureaucratic details."
