Maicon came to São Paulo on loan in January and was eventually bought from FC Porto in the middle of the year.
On Thursday, Porto announced the annual report of the club"s accounts in their official website, ensuring that the defender"s transfer earned them €9.093 million. On th other hand, São Paulo had announced that Maicon was bought for €2.7 million less than the amount claimed by Porto. When contacted by Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, São Paulo explained that this difference is due to the inclusion of Lucão in the negotiation. The young defender chose not to go to Portugal. A person close to São Paulo president Leco said: “But Porto continues with the preference in the acquisition of 50% of the player, for the next two years."
Only the left-back Inácio was involved in the negotiations to bring down costs, as mentioned in the report of Porto. The boy revealed in Cotia had 50% of his economic rights transferred by the Brazilian club for €2.9 million; he has played for the team B of Porto. The text published in the Portuguese side"s website read: “Alienation of the sporting registration rights of the player Maicon to São Paulo for the sum of €12 million, generating a capital gain of €9.093 million after deducting the total amount of 2.906 million [because of Inácio]."
The numbers have already reached the hands of the counsellors of São Paulo, who will ask explanations from president Leco. Another point that has generated concern refers to an amount paid to the Company Overview of Teo Co. Ltd. for transaction intermediation. The company in question would be in South Korea, and the counsellors require Leco to reveal how much has been deducted.
