For the second time in two years, Brazilian club São Paulo have lost their coach to a national side.
After Juan Carlos Osório left the team to accept an invitation from the Mexican national side, now it was the turn of Edgardo Bauza to resign and take charge of Argentina. He will replace Tata Martino, who left following Argentina’s defeat in the final of the Copa América Centenário. Bauza, who had a contract at São Paulo until December 31, leaves the team after 48 matches, with 18 wins, 13 draws and 17 losses. Bauza led São Paulo to this year’s Copa Libertadores semi-finals, where they were eliminated by Colombian side Atlético Nacional. On Thursday against Atlético Mineiro, assistant coach Pintado will lead the Tricolor, and subsequently, the club’s board will meet to define targets.
