After a six month spell in Brazil with São Paulo, 22-year-old striker Jonathan Calleri confirmed on Monday that he’s moving to English football.
Jonathan Calleri will be loaned to West Ham for one season, and the Premier League side will have an option to purchase him permanently next year. Calleri told ESPN: “My trip to West Ham is confirmed, now just need a work visa. I hope to adapt quickly. I really wanted to play in Europe.”
Calleri, who’s currently with the Argentine national team preparing for the Olympic Games, was the top scorer of this year’s Copa Libertadores. Although Calleri has been in talks with the English team since a few weeks, European press came to speculate last week that Barcelona may try to hijack a deal and bring the player to Camp Nou. The Argentine was in the list of potential reinforcements of the Catalan club, but he’s heading to work in England.
