23-year-old Santos midfielder Alison underwent arthroscopic surgery on the medial meniscus in his right knee on the morning of Monday at the Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo.
As mentioned in the club’s official website, Alison had suffered a sprain during training last week. The surgery was performed by Dr. José Ricardo Pécora. The player is expected to start his physiotherapy work already on the morning of Tuesday at Santos’ training centre. Club doctor Mauricio Zenaide said: “The sprain evolves with pain and after undergoing tests with the player, we noted the need for a surgery on the meniscus. It is noteworthy that the injury is not related to the player’s previous cruciate ligament surgery. This reconstructed ligament has not suffered any damage.”
