Palmeiras have rejected an offer from China for attacking midfielder Dudu, who’s been one of the team’s major highlights this season.
The intention of Palmeiras is to acquire another 50% of the economic rights of Dudu from Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev. According to the information from ESPN Brasil, the offer was sent by agent Joseph Lee, but rejected by Palmeiras football director Alexandre Mattos, who made it clear that the club will not sell Dudu this year. The agent said: “I approached Mattos with a proposal, but he told me that Dudu is very important for Palmeiras at the moment and that there is no possibility of a negotiation.”
According to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, the offer from China was in the region of €6 million. Last year, Palmeiras spent €3 million to buy 50% of economic rights of Dudu from Dynamo Kiev. The name of the Chinese club was not revealed by Palmeiras. The journalist’s blog quoted an officer: “It was one of the biggest teams there. And the refusal has to do with our intention to build a strong team and be Brazilian champions.”
