Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato joined Premier League side Chelsea in the January transfer window, and scored on his debut for the Blues last week against Aston Villa, but the 26-year-old is expected to leave at the end of his loan contract.
According to the information from British journal Daily Mail, newly appointed Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will talk with Brazilian-born Spanish striker Diego Costa to convince him to stay at the club for next season. And one reason is that Chelsea will show the exit door to three of their attackers, including Alexandre Pato. Pato, who spent two years on loan at São Paulo in Brazil, is owned by Brasileirão champions Corinthians, but signed a deal with Chelsea until the middle of this year. Chelsea have an option to buy Pato permanently at the end of his contract for a reported €12 million, but the club do not intend to activate the clause. Besides him, Colombian forward Radamel Falcao should return to AS Monaco, while Frenchman Loïc Rémy is set to be sold. Thus, the priority would be to keep Diego Costa, who’s believed to be dissatisfied with the suspensions he has suffered from the English FA. Costa is rumoured to return to Atlético Madrid, the club that sold him to Chelsea in 2014. In addition to maintaining the striker, Chelsea also plans to invest highly in a big name for the position, with Gonzalo Higuaín, Édinson Cavani and Romelu Lukaku being shortlisted.
