PSG left-back Maxwell talked to reporters alongside coach Laurent Blanc on Tuesday, during the eve of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal against Manchester City.
The encounter between PSG and Manchester City is considered one of the most balanced fixture of the quarterfinals, but the French still appears as favorites because of their performances this season. During his press-conference, Maxwell likened Argentine striker Sergio Agüero to Brazilian legend Romário, and is also aware of the threat that the Premier League side possess. He said: “Kun Agüero is a great player, he has a lot of quality and a lot of skills. He’s like Romário in Brazil, he’s small, strong and fast. He has a lot of qualities and is a real strength in this Manchester City team and we will not allow him to have any space. The same for the other players, they also show great qualities, great skills. We will try to stop them having space and making the difference.”
Maxwell added: “In such a match it is dangerous to be too optimistic. We are confident, we have a lot of ambition, but we have a lot of respect for this Manchester City team and its players. We are aware they can beat us, but we also have the qualities to get through this round.”
