The King of Football will put up for auction around two thousand items from his illustrious career as a professional football player.
The event will take place in London between 7th and 9th June, and the week before, there will be a public exhibition of the objects. Among the objects that will be auctioned, there are some rare and expensive items: Three World Cup winning medals, a special copy of the Jules Rimet trophy, the ball with which he scored his thousandth goal and shirts of Santos and New York Cosmos. A portion of the amount collected will go to the Pequeno Príncipe children’s hospital, in Curitiba. The main item of the auction is a Jules Rimet trophy, created especially for the legend by FIFA and the Mexican government after he led the national team to their third World Cup in 1970. Pelé’s 1977 New York Cosmos NASL championship ring, 2004 Olympics Torch and the Athlete of the Century award are also for sale in the auction. Pelé said: “I decided to allow fans and collectors to own a piece of my story as well. I hope they treasure these artefacts and share my story with their children and future generations.”
