The site Football Leaks – “sports version” of WikiLeaks – have leaked the transfer contract of Wallace, which was the largest sale of a defender in the history of Cruzeiro.
In 2014, the player formed in the youth system of Cruzeiro was sold for €9.5 million to investment group Gestifute, owned by Jorge Mendes, who transferred the then 19-year-old to Sporting Braga of Portugal. Interestingly, according to the leaked document, value of the transfer of the federative rights of Wallace was just €1 and the €9.5m fee is related to the economic rights. The contract is published on 25 June 2014, and the document, signed by Cruzeiro vice-president Márcio Rodrigues, deals with solidarity mechanism and the bureaucratic details of the transfer. Five days later, on June 30, 2014, the Brazilian club said that they have sold the economic rights of Wallace to Gestifute. Wallace, who joined Cruzeiro in early 2010 aged just 15, was loaned out to French team Monaco even before his debut for Braga.
