Shanghai SIPG, the team that finished second in the Chinese Super League, have completed the signing of former Botafogo striker Elkeson from Guangzhou Evergrande.
According to local media, Shanghai SIPG will pay €18 million to Guangzhou for the 26-year-old front man. The Brazilian came to prominence in the Asian country after being top scorer in the Chinese Championship in 2013 and 2014. At Shanghai SIPG, Elkeson will once again team up with Argentine playmaker Darío Conca [formerly of Fluminense], with whom he played at Guangzhou Evergrande in 2013. Elkeson played in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final against Barcelona in December.
Elkeson came to Guangzhou Evergrande at the end of 2012 from Botafogo, and won five trophies with the club; two AFC Champions League titles [2013 and 2015] and three Chinese Super League titles in a row [2013, 2014 and 2015].
