Atlético Mineiro are quiet regarding the possible departure of defender Jemerson in this transfer window, but knows that it will be difficult to keep him at the club for longer.
The club have already received proposals from European sides to negotiate the 23-year-old. FOX Sports journalist Luciano Calheiros reckon La Liga side Sevilla are the leading candidate for his signature, and would be willing to pay €11.5 million. However, the player’s agent Alex Zica says that he’s unaware of any enquiry or proposal from Sevilla. He said: “I don’t know about any enquiry or proposal from Sevilla for Jemerson. I know it from the press. Maybe something have arrived at Atlético Mineiro, but I find it hard that they would leak such an information. We had a survey from Spanish football, but it’s no longer…”
Jemerson came through the youth system at Atlético, and has a contract with them until December 2019. The Brazilian club owns 70% of his economic rights, and are hoping to keep the player until July, so that he can take part in the Copa Libertadores.
