Willian insists that his team have simply to keep going over the hectic Christmas schedule. Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw with Watford on Boxing Day at Stamford Bridge, with Willian’s outstanding through ball to Diego Costa teeing up the Blues’ equaliser. The Blues travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United this evening.

‘I think we deserved to win,’ Willian assessed. ‘We played well second half. Of course we were in a difficult moment in that half when Watford scored a second goal but we kept going, we kept fighting and then we scored.’

Compatriot Oscar missed the chance to put the home side 3-2 ahead late in the game, when he slipped and skewed his penalty over the crossbar, ‘I am so sorry about Oscar. He was unlucky that moment when he went to shoot but in this game we showed our quality and we have to now keep going the same way. We have a big game on Monday and we have to go there to try to win the game.’

Willian is also happy to be working with Chelsea’s new interim manager Guus Hiidink, ‘‘I know him [Hiddink] from Anzhi in Russia and I like to work with him,’ said Willian. ‘He is a nice guy and a good manager so now we have to learn from what he can pass on and he can explain.

‘Now we have to rest and be ready for Monday. This situation is difficult for us but I think we can go and win game by game and finish the league in the top four.’
