Liverpool is the latest club being linked with a move for Paris Saint Germain’s Brazilian winger Lucas Moura. Lucas is unsettled in Paris having slipped behind Angel di Maria in the pecking order at the French champions.
Lucas has been dogged by inconsistency since joining PSG from São Paulo nearly three years ago. PSG fended off competition from Manchester United for his signature on that occasion and they are being linked with him again. But reports in England suggest Jurgen Klopp would like to add him to his Liverpool side.
There, Lucas would be able to link up with compatriots Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva. Klopp is reportedly looking to reinvigorate his squad in January after some inconsistent form since taking over the reins in October.
Lucas has begun to talk about his future openly in the press, even if his soundbites have sounded warm towards PSG, that’s usually a good indicator that a player is making himself available. Last month, he told Brazilian TV station SporTV, “I am pleased with the interest of big clubs in me; if it is true it shows that they are watching me and happy with my football.
“But my head is focused on PSG, I never thought about leaving and I want to achieve my goals here. In football, you don’t even know about tomorrow. The Premier League is the strongest league and if tomorrow or later an opportunity comes and I’m not happy here, of course I’ll have a think about it.”
