Chelsea are in talks with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Alex Teixeira according to the player. 25 year old forward Teixeira has been in stunning form for the Ukrainian champions this season, scoring 26 goals in as many appearances for Shakhtar.
Troubled Premier League champions Chelsea are said to already be brokering talks with Shakhtar. The English side have struggled for goals this season, with Diego Costa and Eden Hazard badly off form. Teixeira has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Shakhtar and like compatriots Willian, Fernandinho and Luiz Adriano before him, all ex players of Shakhtar, the Brazilian looks ready to take the next step.
But Donetsk coach Mircea Lucescu warned that Teixeira would not come cheap, "Alex is now worth more than €40m," said Lucescu. "I think at the end of the season, were he to continue his performance, his value is €50m [£36.3m].
"If he were playing in a more competitive league, his transfer would be at the same level as that of Di Maria." Shakhtar finished 3rd in their Champions League group, dropping into the Europa League, though he would be cuptied for the Champions League knockout stages this season, were he to join Chelsea.
