35-year-old Brazilian striker Luís Fabiano has reportedly accepted a proposal from Chinese second-division side Tianjin Songjiang, who will also have former Real Madrid boss Vanderlei Luxemburgo as their coach in 2016.
According to the information from UOL Esporte, Luís Fabiano is yet to sign the contract with Tianjin Songjiang, but people close to the player claims that an agreement is sealed and sees any turnaround as absolutely unlikely. The positive response from Luís Fabiano to Tianjin Songjiang ends the hopes of Grêmio who were prepared to offer the striker a monthly salary around €130,000 with the help of partners. In addition to Grêmio, Luís Fabiano was also consulted by Atlético Mineiro, and received other offers from outside of Brazil that did not interest him much. When contacted, the press office of the attacker said that he will only announce the future after the end of the Brasileirão. Despite analysing Grêmio’s offer with respect, Luís Fabiano assessed that his transfer to another Brazilian club would wear down the image of his strong identification with São Paulo where he is the third highest goal-scorer in history with 212 goals in 352 games. The report states that Tianjin Songjiang promises one of the largest investments in China even in the second-division, and aims to reach the top of the national football in two years. Another player who has already agreed to join the club is Flamengo midfielder Éverton, while they were also interested in striker Paulinho and Figueirense’s Clayton.
