After a slow start to the season, given much to a change of scenery, culture and way of life coupled with persistent injuries, including one to his back that threatened to curtail this young Brazilian’s debut season.

However, he has managed to shake off this stuttering start and really begun to assert himself in the Liverpool attacking hub.

He picked up the man of the match award in Liverpool’s Capital One Cup victory over Bournemouth before playing crucial roles in away victories at Rubin Kazan and most notably Chelsea.

This was usurped by his most influential performance to date, his match-winning performance in The Reds 4-1 win over Manchester City.

The 24 year old created the first two goals before dispatching the third himself.

Klopp has always known about the Brazilians talents, admitting before he was very interested in signing the ex-Hoffenheim man during his tenure at Borussia Dortmund.

The Liverpool boss has since called Firmino the ‘complete offensive player’ given his performances as both a No 10 and as a false nine in his most influential games thus far, the only dilemma is where to play the Brazil international.

He was positioned as the false nine for triumphs over both Chelsea and City but with Christian Benteke and the fit-again and scoring Daniel Sturridge, he may be shifted yet again.

Firmino is clearly more inclined to a deeper role playing withdrawn from a ‘number 9’, his game revolves around finding pockets of space and is suited to playing with quick and intricate players like Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho.

However, the 24 year old can’t do much more than he is doing right now, and it will just fall on the grateful shoulders of Jurgen Klopp to bring his wealth of attacking talent into play.
