In the final game of the year, Brazil’s Olympic national team registered a convincing 5-1 victory over the United States on Sunday in Belém.
At the Estádio Mangueirão, coach Rogério Micale made ten changes to the team that started in Recife in the first game against USA. The only player who was kept in the XI was Gabriel Barbosa, as Chelsea winger Kenedy was absent because of a stomach upset. USA took the lead after just 6 minutes with Fluminense defender Marlon heading the ball into his own net. Santos forward Gabigol equalised just before half time, and Lazio star Felipe Anderson gave Brazil the lead at the start of the second half. He then made it 3-1 to Brazil through a beautiful free-kick in the 62nd minute, and Gabigol scored Brazil’s fourth and his second in the 76th. Grêmio attacker Luan completed the scoring two minutes later with a tap in from Gabigol’s pass.
