Brazilian superstar Neymar has surpassed the goals tally of Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff on Saturday, and also received praise from his coach and teammates.
Both Neymar and Lionel Messi were praised by Belgium defender Thomas Vermaelen who described the two stars as “demons” when trying to explain the difficulty to stop them during training sessions. In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, he said: “Messi and Neymar leave us open-mouthed. They are two demons that are so fast in the team practice.”
Without Messi, who is still recovering from a knee injury, Neymar took center stage and found the net four times and gave an assist in the 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Saturday. He is the top scorer in the Spanish league with eight goals and has scored nearly half of the 17 goals recorded by the Catalan team in the competition. Also during the game, Neymar took his tally at Barça to 62 goals in 101 appearances, surpassing Johan Cruyff who needed 79 matches more to score his 60 goals for the club.
