In a UEFA promotional campaign in which he answered questions from Internet users, Manchester City’s Argentine striker Sergio Agüero talked about his idols and superstars who inspired him.
Agüero said that NBA player Michael Jordan has always been a reference outside of football for him, and inside football, he cited Argentine and Brazilian legends. When asked who all would be the five best players in history, he answered: “Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Maradona. It’s only four, but for me, they are the best.”
When he had to answer who was the best out of them, he chose Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, but revealed former Brazilian striker Ronaldo inspired him. He said: “For me, the best in history is Messi. The player who is most similar to my style of play and that influenced me was the Brazilian Ronaldo.”
