A day after scoring his second goal of the season in the 4-1 victory against Levante, Barcelona forward Neymar took part in a sponsor event and expressed regret over his behavior in Copa América that got him suspended.
Neymar was sent off in the Copa América fixture with Colombia, and was eventually banned for four games by CONMEBOL. He served a two-game ban in the South American competition itself, and will miss Brazil’s first two World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Venezuela next month. Neymar said: “The lesson I’ve learned is that you cannot complain to the referees. I don’t like to stay out of a game, or a training; that moment I was out of the game, I stopped helping my teammates. I cannot let myself go for silly things. I learned a lot from it. I will strive hard for it to not happen again.”
Neymar then revealed his wish to see Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho at Barcelona. He added: “I see many Brazilian players with quality today. But one that I like and I think could play here is Coutinho. He has the style of Barcelona.”
