Liverpool chairman Tom Werner says he is looking forward to seeing more of new signing Roberto Firmino this season, after the Brazil international came on against Stoke City on Saturday to make his competitive debut for the club.
Brendan Rodgers staved off competition from several rivals for Firmino’s signature this summer and that transfer success along with the aquicsition of Christian Benteke from Aston Villa has lifted the mood around Anfield following last year’s poor campaign.
Werner told the Liverpool Echo: “I’m excited about Roberto Firmino, a Brazil international and one of the great prospects in world football.”
